Why Write Down My Dreams?

I’ve always had very vivid dreams. They are usually very detailed and I often have more than one dream a night. For the most part, I wake up remembering my dreams. Last year, I decided to start jotting them down. I keep a pen and a note pad on the side of my bed for that purpose. I've discovered that even if I write down a few details, those details will jog my memory and I can then write out the details of the dream in the morning. There have been times when I’ve told myself, “Yeah, I’ll remember that--it was so unusual. No way I’ll forget this!" No such luck, 99% of the time if I go back to sleep, poof -- it's gone. I might recall a randon detail, but it's keys and hot lava at that point.

Why write my dreams down? Why Not? What do these dreams mean anyhow? How the hell should I know? I guess there will be someone out there who will read them, analyze them and determine I'm a freak or a closet serial killer ready to pop.

For purposes of the blog, if I dream about someone I know (with the exception of my boyfriend, Jeff), I won’t use their real names. I'm going to use random names. Why embarrass myself or the innocent.

I find the subconscious mind fascinating. I seem to work-out my problems in my dreams. Other times, I find that it’s a reflection of how I’m feeling. I guess that's where some of my nightmares come to play.

In any event, I just started this blog, but I do have at least a years worth of dreams to post so I decided to add them a few at a time.

Mahalo!
